The Cleveland Browns are a Good Football Team

Somethings a brewin' out in Cleveland...

The Cleveland Browns are a good football team. That is a sentence I never thought in my life I would ever type out, let alone think of. They are now 5-7-1 this year in the NFL and are doing it with the 2018 number one over all draft pick in Baker Mayfield. The Browns got off to a rock start in the season. It almost seemed as if every game they were flirting with over time. They have participated in 4 overtime games this season and 5 would be the record. There was just something not clicking with the coaching staff and players.

Hue Jackson, Browns ex-head coach, was fired 5 weeks after starting off his 3rd season 2-4-1. For those who do not know how long Hue actually coached, he coached 40 games. 40 games. Jackson coached 40 games and only managed to win 3 of them during his tenure. After being fired, the Browns have won 3 of the last 5 and they have been winning against really good teams.

The first win came against Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons. Mayfield threw for 216 yards and 3 touchdowns. In fact he did not miss one pass attempt until the second half. Also that game, running back Nick Chubb rushed for 176 yard and earned a touchdown.

Second win after the firing of Jackson was against their state rivals, the Cincinnati Bengals. Fun side note, after being fired from the Browns, Hue Jackson went and became a special assistant to the Bengals head Coach Marvin Lewis. Mayfield came in with a sense of vengeance against his former head coach. Just when you thought Mayfield was hot, he gets hotter. Mayfield threw for over 250 yards and topped on 4 touchdowns. The Browns are looking hot.

After a tough loss against the AFC Souths division leaders, the Houston Texans, the Browns hosted Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. Newton is known for being a very versatile quarterback in the sense he can scramble and extend plays. It was a tough match up for the Browns but nothing Mayfield could not handle. Baker again threw for over 200 yards and earned only 1 touchdown. Mayfield has been the lead to their success.

Next week, the Browns travel to the mile high city of Denver to take on the Broncos. With the streak that they have been on, the Browns will look to continue their run against good teams. The Cleveland Browns are a good football team and until they prove me wrong I will stick with that sentence.
