Andrew Luck is Better Than Patrick Mahomes and Here's Why

All everyone talks about now a days is how "Great" Patrick Mahomes is, but can you consider him the league MVP?

Andrew Luck is a better quarterback than Patrick Mahomes in my opinion. Now I am not going to sit here and rattle off statistics to you because if you only analyze football in that aspect than you have very little respect for the sport.

I want you to sit there and name all the all-star players on the KC Chiefs. In your head you probably have the popular ones; Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, the late Kareem Hunt and the list can go on. Patrick Mahomes has himself an arsenal of players to choose from.

The amount of athletes on that AFC West team is far more paramount than any other team in the league. And yes, they are better stat wise. But if you are going to critically analyze a team and who an MVP should be you need to look much more in depth.

The term 'Most Valuable Player', is for the teams, well, most valuable player. To me, the Chiefs have more than one valuable player. Many teams have more than one valuable player.

Again, you're going to want to pull that stats out on me and criticize me for not naming Pat Mahomes the league MVP and that's fine. I don't give a shit.

To me, and this is my complete unbiased opinion, the league MVP should be Andrew Luck.

"Well that's because you're a Colts fan." "You're being completely biased."

Am I? Perhaps, but can you blame me?

I'll reiterate the question I had earlier. Name some of the all-star players on the Colts. You have Andrew Luck and TY Hilton. Then to go with that, the Colts have a bunch of young no name players. Players such as Zach Pascal, Chester Rodgers, Eric Ebron and Marlon Mack. Players who have not been in the league that long and have not made as big of an impact.

Luck is doing way more, with way less. He is like the Tom Brady to his team. Brady doesn't have stand out players like he used to have. He turns these no name players into guys that are now sought out after throughout the whole league.

Luck is doing the same thing. We see how big of an impact he has on his team during his 2016-2017 absence. How did the Colts do? Well, in 2016 they went 8-8 after Luck went down halfway through the season. 2017, they went 4-12 with Jacoby Brissett at quarterback. Now, they are 8-6 and have 73% chance of making it to the playoffs and actually being a threat. The impact Luck has on his team is noticeable. Take Luck off of the team and were looking at another disappointing 4-12 season.

Mahomes is a great quarterback. Do not get me wrong, Andy Reid is working magic with the kid and is having great success doing so.

But Mahomes has weapons. He has had weapons. The Chiefs have always had weapons on their team. In the 2017 season, Alex Smith was the starting quarterback. They start the season 5-0. Tyreek Hill was still on the team. Travis Kelce and Kareem Hunt are still there. The weapons Mahomes has this year were present last year as well for Alex Smith.

Let's look at the production for each team with the absence of both Luck and Mahomes.

The 2017 Luck is out with a shoulder injury. Misses all 16 games. The Colts go 4-12. Brissett only throws 13 touchdown passes all year and 7 interceptions. He had the same personel as Luck did, but he can not produce like Luck can.

Luck this year has single handedly led his team. His presence gives the Colts the confidence they need to be better. He has been better. He continues to prove that week in and week out. He does more with less. He has also won BIG games that he needs to win. The win against the Cowboys was huge for the program. He ended a 9 game winning streak by the Texans.

Mahomes did not see the field in 2017. As mentioned, the Chiefs were led by veteran Alex Smith. Smith, with the same weapons in Hill, Hunt and Kelce threw for 26 touchdown passes and only 5 interceptions. Leading his team into the playoffs in a 10-6 record.

Mahomes, while number wise is ahead of Luck, is not as clutch as Luck. Mahomes losses 3 big games he needs to win. Loss to the Rams, the Patriots and the Chargers.

Luck wins the games he needs to win with less talent. Mahomes loses games he needs to win with more talent.

Now I understand I will get criticism and backlash for this post and that is totally fine. Argue with me. Call me out. Prove me wrong. I dare you.
