The Comeback Team of the Year

There is a storm brewing in Indianapolis and it's coming...

This is perhaps the most important week in football for the Indianapolis Colts. Playoff contentions are on the line and it comes down between two AFC South Rivals, the Colts and Titans, to see who's in and who goes home.

This Sunday night will be the second match up between the two 9-6 teams this season. There is a lot that rides on this game. In fact, the entire AFC South doesn't have a for sure division winner and we are in the last weeks before the playoffs.

Who would have guess that the final week of the regular season would be the most important one? In years past we have seen who has won their respective divisions. That is not the case this year. The Colts have a very good chance of winning the AFC South and clinching a 3 seed in the playoffs.

What needs to happen?

Well that's easy. The Colts need to win this Sunday against the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville to win against the 10-5 Texans. If that happens the Colts, who were once a 'done chained' by Big Cat, now have a legitimate chance of getting home field advantage in the playoffs.

What has been going right for the Colts?

Andrew Luck has been healthy. When the team has a healthy Luck they have a strong offense. It never really dawned on me how important Luck is to the Indianapolis Colts until recently.

He is the commander and chief of the Colts. He runs the team. The team is built around him. He also happens to be one of the highest paid quarterbacks in the league and to the contrary is performing well.

Look around the league and see the top 5 highest paid quarterbacks. You have Kirk Cousins, Jimmy-G, Matt Stafford and then Drew Brees. All quarterbacks who are paid in upwards of $25 million. All of these QBs, besides Brees, have all had mediocre to poor seasons this year.

What's my point?

Andrew Luck, while being the 6th highest paid quarterback has performed beyond expectations this year. His team, while not having expensive weapons like most teams have, has performed. It has been a cheap season for the Colts and they are saving up their money. For what? Le'Veon maybe?

Luck, a grade A quarterback, is playing with grade C athletes who are very cheap to pay. Nobody really expected the Colts to have the season they are having now. Hell, me being a die-hard Colts fan, didn't expect them to make a run at the playoffs.

The things Frank Reich has done with this team has surpassed all expectations. It's because of how healthy the team has been.

In the beginning of the season it seemed like everyone on the team was injured. Ty was hurt, Mack was hurt, the fans were hurt. We were playing football like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off. It was ugly.

But now, the Colts walk around with this type of swagger that is very dangerous. A type of swagger that is very intimidating. A type of swagger that is threatening. They are playing pissed off and they have every reason to be.

When the Colts started off as 1-5, I imagine many of their fans thought they were done too. During that rough September month, ESPN and many other sources around the league laughed at Indy. Mocked them. Questioned Luck.

That can all stop now.

I'm serious. The constant questioning of how healthy Luck is, and how good of a coach Frank Reich is can finally stop.

Andrew Luck is in contention for Comeback player of the year and also league MVP. If you're asking me he should win both. But I tend to be biased.

When the Colts make the playoffs they will be running the show. Teams need to fear playing Indianapolis. When you have players like Quentin Nelson and Darius Leonard dominating on offense and defense you need to be worried about them.

I mean Leonard was snubbed from the Pro Bowl and he leads the league in tackles with 155. I imagine he's going to be playing angry. Andrew Luck was snubbed from the Pro Bowl. These guys, this team are playing angry. When a team is playing angry it can be hard to stop them.

This Sunday night, a Primetime NFL game between the Colts and Titans will take place. The Colts are playing healthy and mad. The Titans on the other hand are still in the mix up. Will Mariota be healthy enough to play? Can the Colts defense hold back their offense like they did during week 11? These questions will all be answered on Sunday Night.

The Colts are making it to the playoffs and Lord help whoever they face.
